~Wisdom Wednesdays~ Reiki and Chakras: How They Affect The Body.

Greetings Everyone! This weeks Wisdom Wednesday I wanted to talk about Reiki and the chakras(energy centers of the body), since it is a service I offer. I’m going to continue talking about the chakras for the next 7 weeks as well by going more in depth with each Chakra every week. Please feel free to join me on this journey!

What is Reiki and chakras you ask? Well, that is an excellent question! Lets start off talking about chakras, since that’s what Reiki utilizes for it’s energy channel.

In most ancient healing practices, it is believed that energy flows through the body by using multiple energy centers, chakras, or maridians. The word chakra comes from the Sanskirt word meaning “wheel or disk.” Each main chakra spins with flowing energy and are depicted as different lotus flowers. Each one has it’s own frequency and color corisponding to the rainbow colors. They are aligned along the spine from the base or sacrum, up to the top of the head.

There are 7 main chakras: The root chakra located at the base of the spine, the sacral chakra located at just below the naval, the solar plexus chakra located just above the naval, the heart chakra located near the heart, the throat chakra location on the throat, the thrid eye chakra located on the brow area between the eyes, and the crown chakra located just above or on top of the head.

Each chakra is tied to different emotions and areas they affect in the body. If they become out of balance, such as having too much or too little energy flowing through them, it can cause them spin too fast or to slow. The more energy flowing through them, the faster they spin. If one chakra is blocked and slowly spinning, it tends to cause all of the chakras to be out of balance. This can make other chakras spinning faster and work harder trying to make up for the lack of energy in the one that is blocked.

This is where Reiki can come into play and help re-balance the chakras. Reiki is a Japanese style of healing that means, “life force energy.” Rei- meaning “life force,” and -ki meaning “energy.” A Reiki session is a healing touch modality that utilizes a practitioner to help channel and move around the universal energies within the body, mind, and spirit.

The practitioner places their hands on different areas of the body that follow the chakra centers, and this allows them to hold space for the client during their healing process. Some Reiki practitioners use stones or sounds to also help balance out the chakras. There are different stones that correlate to the chakras as well. As we get more in depth over the next seven weeks, I’ll talk more about the emotions, crystals or stones, colors, foods, body parts, essential oils, foods, and anything else that relates to each of the chakras.

That’s a wrap for this weeks Wisdom Wednesday! On that note, I’ll leave you with a hiaku poem:

Healing day by day.

The flow is everlasting.

Energy of life.
